Orange Island's statue of Mao Zedong must be the most iconic and recognisable spots in Changsha.

Why Visit Orange Island
Orange Island (橘子洲, Juzizhou) is the world's largest inland island within a city center. Famous for:
- Iconic 32-meter Young Mao Zedong statue
- Beautiful river views of Changsha skyline
- 3,000+ orange trees bearing fruit in autumn
- Sprawling 5.7km pedestrian-friendly park
- Historical significance in Chinese literature
Local Tip: Visit during the Mid-Autumn Festival when the island hosts a major lantern festival and cultural events.
How to Get There
By Metro: Line 2 to Juzizhou Station, Exit A2
Getting around the Orange Island
While you might opt-in to just walk around the park, I highly recommend taking the tourist train at least one way.
The park is quite big (we haven't even seen the south part of it), so you might want to save yourself some time and energy. Plus, the train is really fun!
We were quite confused how to buy tickets for the train - buying tickets using WeChat didn't work for us - so we just bought them at the ticket office.
