Planning a trip to China? There's never been a better time to visit. China has recently introduced a 15-day visa-free policy for many countries, including my home country Poland, which means you can explore the China without the hassle of applying for a visa.

Two weeks is the perfect length for a holiday in China - long enough to see the highlights, but short enough to fit into most people's work schedules. And it matches perfectly with the new 15-day visa-free rule. As the cost of obtaining a visa is relatively high for China, this new policy is a perfect reason to keep your trip short and sweet.

You can now spontaneously decide to visit the Great Wall, see the Terracotta Warriors, or taste authentic Chinese cuisine without worrying about visa paperwork.

Whether you're interested in ancient history, modern cities, or natural wonders, China has something for everyone. And now, it's more accessible than ever!

Ready to discover what you can experience in two weeks in China? Keep reading for an exciting itinerary that will make the most of your visa-free stay.

About this itinerary

The logic behind this itinerary is to provide you an opportunity to see as much of different parts of China as possible, including must-see sights like Beijing and the Great Wall, lesser known metropolies like Chongqing and magical landscapes of Yunnan province.

My goal was to organize all destinations in a "connected" manner allowing you to travel between them by high-speed rail, which I encourage you to do. Modern high-speed rail infrastructure is China's pride and a flag ship project, making it a tourist attraction in its own right. Once you travel by Chinese super-fast, punctual and modern trains, you will come back home wondering why you don't have it back at home.

Let's explore!

Beijing: Ancient Wonders and Modern Marvels (3 days)

Day 1 - Easing In and Evening Exploration

After arriving in Beijing, take it easy to adjust to the new time zone. In the evening, head to Houhai Lake. This area comes alive at night with twinkling lights reflecting on the water. Stroll around the lake, enjoy street food, and soak in the lively atmosphere. If you're up for more, visit nearby Beihai Park. It's one of the oldest imperial gardens in Beijing, offering a peaceful contrast to Houhai's buzz.

Day 2 - Imperial Morning, Artistic Afternoon

Start early at the Forbidden City, the grand palace of China's emperors for nearly 500 years. Wander through its vast courtyards and ornate halls, marveling at the intricate architecture. In the afternoon, switch gears completely and visit the 798 Art District. This former factory area is now a hub of contemporary art galleries, hip cafes, and unique shops. It's a perfect spot to see modern China's creative side.
